Obesity

The accepted index for measuring obesity is the BMI (Body Mass Index), which is defined as the body weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. Obesity is defined as a condition in which the BMI index is higher than 30.

Relation to social mobility

Obesity hurts income levels, mental health, and the individual’s/family’s economic situation - both for women and men – due to the costs of treatment of the resulting morbidity.
